While many people instantly jumped to check out the new iPhone X, its familiar looking cousins – iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus – also deserves some merit. These new iPhones look like their predecessors with the familiar home buttons and bezels. So if you are still not ready to let go of the iPhone look that you had come to love, then the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus can definitely make you happy still.
The Familiar Look
The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus designs did not really steer away from the traditional iPhone design. Apple gave these two phones the same screen sizes are their forefathers – a 4.7 inch screen for the iPhone 8 and a 5.5 inch screen for the iPhone 8 Plus.
The only changes that you can see is the fact that these phones now have glass fronts and backs in order to make the wireless charging work. This makes those who are prone to accidents cringe at the thought of having to get a cracked iPhone screen repair for the front & back. It is reported that they are more durable then the 7 but you should still get a durable case to protect the iPhone. In addition, the colors of these new iPhones are a lot smoother in finish.
It’s Different on The Inside
Thankfully, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus have a higher floor storage compared to the older models. Apple has finally made 64GB of storage as the basic for the new iPhones. In using the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, users can definitely feel the difference of having an A11 Bionic chipset.
For starters, the performance of these phones – even during their test mode – was already amazing. Navigating through the phone is quick and easy. The new AR feature is also impressive especially considering the fact that when it was tested, the phones were still running on an unfinished hardware.
Apple and its magic on software upgrades also mean that the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus cameras will be powerful as well. Of course, the pricier and bigger model gets the better camera but that does not mean that the iPhone 8 will be a miss. Apple has improved its cameras’ Portrait mode and added effects and more setting to play with. The iPhone 8 Plus also has a dual camera that can easily match or even surpass other brands.
Potential Last Traditional iPhone
Some have speculated that the reason why the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus still look like the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus is because Apple is still doing a market test to check whether or not the consumer market is ready for the big change that is, the iPhone X.
The tech giant supposedly still wants to keep its large share of the mobile market by making traditionalists happy with the usual iPhone look while at the same time, trying to excite adventurous users and entice potential customers in checking out the all new design of the iPhone X. If this theory is correct and if the iPhone X, despite the huge money it costs, sells well, then this might be the last time that we will be seeing a new iPhone with its conventional hardware and design.
Similar but Different
The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus should not be immediately dismissed as another carbon copy of the older iPhones. Although at first glance they do appear similar, these new iPhones have so much more to offer than their predecessors.
It does look like the previous iPhone models but upon holding these devices, it is clear that they are built for change. If you are not yet ready to jump to the new design of the iPhone X or you simply cannot afford to spend a thousand bucks for a phone, go for the iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus.
